The Pre-Irish Line. - Genealogy from the Bible in the original tradition - Line from the later tradition of the seventeenth century - Line down to Jesus the Nazerene.
Chapter 2
The following is the line from Adam to Milesius and is according to the Christian tradition, taken from the Old Testament by the scribes. In the Jewish texts the family names do not follow a strict father and son progression. They are recorded from the oral tradition which only took cognisance of those generations of note.
All royal and noble families of European descent trace their ancestry back to Adam, as do any family of note. The British Royal Family go back through James the VI (and 1st of England) to Alpin King of Scots (839-841), Fergus Mor mac Erc (d.501) first King of Dalriada, and through Ugaine Mor (k.593 BC), to the Old Testament Line.

That is the older tradition1 and the current genealogists use a tradition based on the Annala Rioghachta Eireann compiled in the sixteenth century. This is obviously heavily influenced by the Catholic Church's manipulation of the early Bible texts to suit a gentile faith., and a more pragmatic approach to written genealogy. It has a name for each generation, down to (38) Irial Faidh. This approach runs from another son of Noah`s; Shem; down through Abraham and King David to Eochaid I, who married Tamar the daughter of King Zedekiah of Judah. It therefore removes any trace of the old Celtic religion and myth by the omission of any reference to Bile or Milesius and his sons. This has also influenced Eoin MacNeill2, and those that followed him, to show the Celtic nation forming in Ireland about 500BC with the movement of Brythonic Celts. In doing this it fails to understand the manipulation of the early myths, and therefore fails to take cognisance of their historical contribution to the early movement of the Celtic peoples from the Continent. Henri Hubert; amongst others on the Continent; placed, with sound academic reasoning, the Goidels landing in Ireland around 1600BC.
The Lia Fail also suffered from this later influence of the Roman Church3, ending up with a biblical pedigree. According to the later tradition it was carried to Ireland from Judah, where it had been the Stone of the Covenant or Jacob`s Pillow (Genesis 28:18-22). King Zedekiah ascended the throne of Jerusalem in 598BC, and twelve years later was defeated by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. His sons were murdered and he was taken to Babylon and blinded (Jeremiah 39:6-7, 52:10-11), but his daughter, Tamar, escaped. This Jeremiah took her to Ireland, with the stone, by way of Egypt and Spain. She married the Ard-ri, Eochaid, and the future kings were crowned on the stone. The stone was taken to

Eochaidh I, king of Ireland is shown marrying Tamar around 586BC, and from them comes Irial Faidh, the start of the line of Heremon. This line was chosen for the Annala Rioghachta Eireann because it was created for a family of the Ui Neill.
The Biblical line to Jesus branches from (49) Josiah by his first wife Zebudah, daughter of Pediah of Rumah. This was the main line to the throne and on his death in 609BC his son, Jehoahaz ascended the throne only to be forced out of Judah by the Pharoah of Egypt. In the same year Jehoahaz`s brother; Jehoiakim; took the throne, only to be captured and taken to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar eleven years later. His son Jeconiah in turn attained the throne in 598BC, but was duly captured and taken also to Babylon. Mattaniah, his uncle, then ascended the throne as King Zedekiah in 598BC. The descendants of Jeconiah, of the line of David, were from then on the royal pretenders to the throne of Judah.

In the 4th Century BC, Pytheas of Marsseilles made and documented two voyages to the Pretanic Isles of Albion & Ierne as Aristotle had called them in his Book of the World. The Erainn were one of the larger tribes, and the accusative plural Erna provides the stem of the modern name Eire. The Erainn were the Inverna and Ptolemy placed them in the south-west of the island. There were also scattered groups in Connacht and Ulster. Like the other peoples of Ireland they derived their name from an eponymous ancestor, their`s called Iar.

2 MacNeill's Phases of Irish History influenced a generation and continues to have followers.
3 The Celtic Church had a tradition that was closer to the Nazarene roots than the urbane Roman Church. Augustine was sent to Britain for the subjugation of the traditional Church which Rome perceived as heretical. It had a great influence in Britain and Europe and was interested in the hearts and minds of the people while the Roman Church was busy with dogma and ecclesiastical structure. The Roman Church tried to minimise the old Faith and trace its roots back to Jesus and the people of the Bible.
4 Another tradition shows it being brought to Scotland by St Columba as his baptismal font. One thing all traditions have in common is that it was a portable rounded stone of inscribed black basalt.
