The primary aim is to link as many Donegal McGlynns as possible.  There are 73 on my line at present and at least another 30 needing one link through Neil (BB3) and his son James in Letterbrick and Cloghan.  Any e-mailed to me (even if there is no apparent connection) I will publish with an e-mail contact at the end that may result in more connections. I know that the fourteen children of Eoin (C3) scattered widely through Ireland, Scotland, and England though I have no contact with them. There were also many other families in Glasgow, Paisley, and Maryhill connected through the Finn Valley.

Line (i) is my own don. Fan. McGlynn line, while Line (ii) is McGlynn connected through Neil  (BB3) and his son James.  Line (iii) from the Lough Ea area (Edinintagh) is connected through Paddy (BBB1) and is being looked at by Paul McGlynn.

Line (i)

The earliest I include in this line is Denis (A1) from Tievedeevan who marries a Mary McGlynn from Meengilcarry (just west of Tievedeevan along the Cummirk River).  I was told that his father was Hugh (born @1750) who lived in the cottage that Denis inherited.  Paddy mor and his son Paddy beg of Tievedeevan were brother and nephew to Denis(A1).  Mary McGlynn of Meengilcarry had a father named Francis.  I only had this years ago from one source and it has never been corroborated by another independent source so they are not included in the linear plan.

Buorde, who’s daughter Frances marries Hugh (B1) is an enigma.  I have from different sources in the past had his name as Hugh and Eoin though it is most probably Eoin.  I have also his family coming from Meenatinny and Meenirroy.  This happens often when the family comes from the border of two townlands or has families in two adjacent townlands, or in the case of places like Edinintagh they use a district name that can cover a few townlands.  All that is sure of this family is that they were not living as a McGlynn family to the north of the Cummirk River in 1857.  They could have been to the south or in the Finn Valley under Buorde’s real name or he could be living with another family who had an old mother or father as head-of-household in 1857.
